Our University song

The poem before the song...

Staring at the flickering screen
my eyes begin to numb
I go and grab some more caffeine
what have I now done
an office chair at home so plush
tucked in a corner space
just sitting here when came a rush
brought a smile right to my face
its 1 AM this days been long
its time I go to bed
I'll close this out with a new song
that just popped in my head

Thanks for the offer but I shall pass
whenever I sing I end up sounding like @#$
maybe we'll luck up with someone with a voice
and not have to settle with my noise

Thanks again for your time Eddie
you do alot for the university
I appreciate it much I hope you see
your not only head of class but MVP

Kenny,
I'm just like the rest of you fine folks.
Ra,Ra, sis cum ba. or something like that.
Ok, I'll start the lead. You brush up that low voice.

At the risk of sounding dumb
I'll ask the question (silly me)
Posted there is a conundrum
What's the meaning of MVP?

  Our University song

Ok hold your breath folks, here it is. And if the rest of you don't do it your chicken now sit back and have fun.

Carol m
MVP is for most valuable player.... No Kirk is can I run a close 50000th behind the rest of you folks. That what the Z is for. If it weren't for me we would still be standing outside in 95 deg temp June 1, 1965 I closed the ceremony in getting our diplomas. Same as my Sons and My Daughter.

  Our University song take 4

My producer says the choirs too high
and my voice should be up front
I thought I had it perfect
but now its time to punt

So had to make decisions
based on expertise
Thought I'd redo the mix
so my producer I can please

Hey guys I'm so frustrated
My desire to record not sated
I've listened to all the tracks
And checked all the feedback
And have a strong desire
To help out with this track
But I cannot record, I'm helpless
My Daughters got my room
I'm kind of homeless
Reduced to sleeping in the lounge
Computers in the hall
There's so much noise and to and fro
I'm not having a ball
I'm relocating to a shed
Which I'm doing now
A little studio for me
Where I can do things peacefully
Until that time I must ask
Can I be excused from class
The tunes are here they are so fine
And I will do something in time
I must say Eddie you've done great work
And I'm not running shy
Like the vocal that you've done
You're a multi-talented guy
I'm sorry I can't do much
I really think I ought ta
But my life it has turned upside down
Because of my new Granddaughter

Well done with all the hard work you've done with this Eddiez, and to you Kenny for the lyrics, keep going with the vocals, I'm sorry I personally am not much help, don't feel good about that, it would be good with a few vocals on it, I'll try and do something I like both tunes so it would be fun to do something with both. Thanks for the tip on breaking up the verses Eddie, I started recording tracks separately following your advice on one of my song threads but I had a bit of a problem with timing which I think is just a question of practice but splitting the verses up and then doing it is a great idea I think that will make things a lot easier for me

Best Wishes To All

Chris

starsailor,
Thank you, Mix 4 is what I think is the best. If you breakup and save each verse, it is much easier to remember the tune. Your not taking a big gulp at a time.
The the folks who have been doing this longer and can remember the entire tune hats off to them.
Don't be afraid to add to this last mix at some point when your ready.

Ok Eddie, I can remember my own tunes but when I do songs from BTs that's when my timing goes awry, I've just got to learn how to do it properly, breaking the verses down will make it easier, my new set up should be better than before so hopefully I can get some good material down, good to hear from you and hope you and yours are keeping well.

All the Best

Chris

Somehow days just slip away
Before you know it the weekend ends
Not for you folks beyond the waves
Who have part of Sunday still to spend

I plan to do so much each day
Practice, and chat around the forum
But other things get in the way
And good manners stipulate decorum

I can’t possibly be rude, or food refuse
(Its always been my weakness)
So invitations I accept, and fuse,
Pleasure and duty with greed and sleekness.

Knight has taken the weekend off
Well, sometimes we have to go without
The things that can make others scoff
But his heart lies here there is no doubt

Chris has asked to be excused
From singing duty on our song
I’m sorry, mate, permission refused
I’m not yet ready to burst into song.

Kenny is working on his tunes as well,
Eddie is doing a fine job of diversity
With multi track gems with vocals to tell
The story of our twanger’s University.

Aunt Dot says, she gets a bit damp
Or soggy maybe, I can’t remember
Filled with emotion at the thought
Of the mighty efforts of every member.

My big news is, I’ve cracked the problem
No, not the tooth, anyway, that’s a chip
I’ve found out how to get some volume
Now I twang quite loud (and at a clip).

I hope to make a sound recording,
Of my new skill on the harp
Perhaps tomorrow in the morning
I’ll do my impression of a drowning carp.

Good to see the Jews Harp
Is working out so well
Kind of like that twang
Hope that that darned tooth
Isn't giving you hell
It will be good to hear you
Doing you're own thang (artistic license applied for)
I had a good excuse
It's not an easy thing
When the relatives
Invade my space
And then won't let me sing
I may grow old and tired
The road it may be long
But I will wait for all time
To hear Carol in song
I don't know how your voice is
Your talents are quite wide
So if you sang like an Angel
I wouldn't be surprised
On other hand if you have proof
That you sound like a drain
Then I'll no longer bother you
Never mention it again

I can imagine that a drain
Would have some natural echo
For now you'll have to wait in vain
Before my vocal chords I'll strain.

I'm not a one to inflict pain
On others if it can be helped
Besides I must play lefty again
Before a song I'll belt

The harps the thing to do today
And then a blues harp tune/progression
I've learned a lot the youtube way
In some dedicated learning sessions

But worry not, I'll do the deed
But not for quite a while
Its good to play with strings and reeds
I'm sure it'll make you smile!

Seems to be a lot of talent
waiting to be unleashed
My ears can hardly stand it
waitng for the feast

Left handed playing
juice harp thwacking
harmonica and vox
my skills compared is lacking

two fingers on the keyboard
I smoke and drink a lot
thats it as far as skills go
yep thats about all I got

Kenny you have skills to burn
Your voice is quite outstanding
I've even heard, that you can turn
Your skills to pigeon banding.

OK, its about the rhyming!

The only true skill that I've attained
seems to be decieving some nice folk
my dog can attest my vox are too shame
but thank you I do love a good joke

Deceived? Have you gone out of your mind?
I've heard your pipes ring loud and clear
And, I don't say this just to be kind
There's no better voice I'd rather hear

OK I may have gone too far
And stretched my credibility
Maybe Dylan going tra la la
But he wouldn't sing in our University

Perhaps he would have been better
On that I'm not quite clear
But anyway, you're a trend setter
(And Bob can be quite drear).

I love to hear you singing
With guts and great abandon
I'm thinking someone should be bringing
A stage for you to stand on.
