Not scared of a dare


In the middle of the garden
draped with flowered apparel
looking unused and abandoned
stands an empty wheelbarrel

Upon its old broken handle
sits a little grey sparrow
singing out his melody
with such sadness and sorrow

It was a heartbreaking tune
like the miss of cupids arrow
and at the same time as lovely
as winning a dare made by Carol

This took a few hours
from the day before tomorrow
but now that its complete
I'll go back to my sombrero

Calling this a real song
a close call oh so narrow
but it sure was a challenge
so how'd I do Miss Carol...

Who would have thought
Such a worthy retort
Could find so much rhyming with Carol
I sure do like 'narrow'
Much better than 'barrel'
But 'wheelbarrow' scores you a nought.

The rhyme 'sparrow's OK
In a bird sort of way
But the rhyme that I'm liking by far
Is the one 'cupid's arrow' -
So much better than sparrow
And instantly makes you a star

I have some concern
That this jousting could turn
Into something beyond all good reason
If it goes on much more
We could get shown the door
With our posting rights stopped for the season

Perhaps some good members
Would be our defenders
They might even write pleas, and then file'em
They would have to be quick
'Cos we'd be in the nick
If we didn't end up in Asylum.
