Our University song

The poem before the song...

Staring at the flickering screen
my eyes begin to numb
I go and grab some more caffeine
what have I now done
an office chair at home so plush
tucked in a corner space
just sitting here when came a rush
brought a smile right to my face
its 1 AM this days been long
its time I go to bed
I'll close this out with a new song
that just popped in my head

I've been digging beds all day
Not the kind where you have zeds
By afternoon I felt less inspired
Came home from work a little tired

I got changed and then went on
Guitar for beginners and beyond
And what a wonder I did see
A masterpiece from Eddiez

He laboured hard both night and day
Never faltered, never rested
Until the song was tried and tested
And when uploaded to the site
The music was a pure delight
So sing his praises, raise a glass
Eddiez is pure class

Nice one Eddiez, you did a brilliant job on this

Yes Aunt Doty my Avatar
Has been changed again
Just for a short while
Thought I'd let my hair down
Cousin Itt he makes makes me smile
Thought I'd give Nelson a rest
Spent a long time at sea
He kind of frightened me a bit
When he said kiss me Hardy
Told him I wasn't Hardy
But Laurel makes me laugh
He said he'd had a bad day
Wiped the sweat from his head
I said I cannot Kiss you Sir
So cuddled him instead

While I'm still here
As I'm local
What's this I hear
X4 sings vocal
There's no stopping
You these days
You're on a roll
I am amazed
Well done Kenny
Like what you do
I'll have to run to
Keep up with you

Great work guys, what a brilliant thread this is, music, laughter, poems, sonnets, limericks and rhyming couplets, pass me my doublet and my hose I'm off to write some fancy prose (well prose anyway)

I would like to thank our Dean
For reviewing my little work
I truly study long and hard
Try play without a quirk

I'll continue with my studies
Who knows what I'll come up with next
As our fine Dean keeps them coming
I will put them through the test.

To my fellow classmates
x4 and all the rest
Your creative sense lyric
Brought out my very best

I mixed in many flavors
One for every chosen verse
No doubt I'll make some changes
I'll try not to make it worse.

As Carol m once stated
Music and vocals can be related
And Kenny C
Your vocal quality
Brought soul to this melody

To each of you
Who hear this tune
And want to do your part
Don't be afraid to turn the dials
Its not to late to start

To all the ladies - all the gents
Who offered here a rhyme
I'll offer here my own two cents
This post has been sublime

So many smilies in one post
Because, not one, but all
Heard the sound of music play
And followed, here, it's call

So piper keep on piping
And don't you cry for me
I have learned a lot from friends
on GFB&B

Ah, Kenny, great! I love the part where you have to account for those extra beats.

Thanks Kirk, but that wasn't as hard as accounting to myself why I keep trying to sing{lol}
Hope I pronounced "Lorange" properly.

Kirk,
I played the chorus part with extended time to fit the words of
Lorange and Mullins University.
I thought Ken might take advantage of the intro part for a word reading before the lyrics started.

Eddie, don't know what you mean by "Whats the matter"? If your talking about the post above where I say you make me laugh, that was in reference to your leaving me a place for a word reading. If your referring to the timing issue, that was during the last chorus section where there is a change from the first one. I did the best I could with what I have and had to work with, sorry if thats not up to your expectations...I was having fun and thats all that mattered to me.

Thanks Aunt Doty,
Your really sweet
I agree that Kenny did it neat
He may have misunderstood my rhyme
But that happens from time to time

I'm not a scholar when it comes to words
I would rather just be heard
I missed those classes I do confess
Its art and techno is where I do my best

This college room is beginning to fill
With talent that is abounding
We credit this thread to x4StringDrive
To him is given the founding.
Then added Starsailor and Carol M
To resident Professors of rhyme
Visted by Krissovo,Windsong and SolidWalnut
Who graced out presence for a time
Then came Aunty Dotty the Belle of the South
With her beautiful turn of a phrase
LC came by to prod us along
His remarks were taken as praise.
Now Eddiez is with us and his son Todd
Both talented in their own right
Even the Captain has found this troupe
Our efforts are now in the light.
If true hearts ever existed
Then will be found right here
The Muse of Music is with us
She lives and plays right here.
And

Hey Knight that was a gem
I enjoyed that cool poem
And everybody got a mention
Your memory surpasses mine
I would end up in detention
So many pages have gone by
But ever onwards we continue
The standard climbing up so high
Straining every prosaic sinew
Our mission Joined as we travel
By Eddiez and now Todd too
Two great additions to the crew
More will follow that's for sure
The thread it has an open door
All are welcome lets have plenty
A land mark closes in once more
As we move forwards to page twenty

Sorry folks but I just have to say
our university tune won't stay this way
The words, much like this great great site
weren't thrown together just for spite
No offense to Oh Susanna or to EddieZ
using someone else's tune doesn't sit with me
Now mind you Eddie did do a great job
and please don't find me quite like a snob
but with all the skill that we have here
surely an original we should not fear
Again I don't mean to sound so rude
but its like Roy Rogers doing Hey Jude
now some of you may feel I'm wrong
thats theres nothing missing from this song
what can I say you have that right
but I didn't post this to start a fight
just that these words mean much to me
they describe the best that will ever be
and to say our tune was done like a cover
I'd be embarrassed like no other
if no one else see's it this way
thats alright I at least had my say
and last but not least as you move along
sorry if I'm mistaken about it being our song
