Our University song
The poem before the song...
Staring at the flickering screen
my eyes begin to numb
I go and grab some more caffeine
what have I now done
an office chair at home so plush
tucked in a corner space
just sitting here when came a rush
brought a smile right to my face
its 1 AM this days been long
its time I go to bed
I'll close this out with a new song
that just popped in my head
Our University song

You tell me Ken that its quite easy
If I want to make a vid
Just open the app and have a go?
I've searched and searched
Both high and low
Looked everywhere, it must be hid
Finding an app is not that easy
Please give me a hint about where to go.....
Did I really ask you, for a tip
'bout where you think I ought to go?
That's risky, you might let it rip -
Could be scarry, but have a go!

I like my life, not a risk taker
so i'll just say, "windows movie maker"
I myself use whats called "win dvd"
just used to it, and it suits me
I've got an old vidy cam
thats stuck with anaolog
it works ok yeah i guess
considering my pc's a dog
have to convert my tapes to digital
but I have a converter to do it all
like anything related, hard at first
but theres no stopping if you have the thirst
PS: these were both already installed on my pc...look in programs,,,yours might have one or both.

I think I see the problem here
I have no camera far or near
At least not one to catch things moving
(I miss it most for when I'm grooving )
Is that the app you do refer to?
Ugh! rhyming couplets but will it do?

Hey there Carol, a little bit of news
some picture cameras take movies you can use
also is the photo type movie made from stills
make one of the kids or to show all your pills
With an external converter you can use home movies
convert them to digital and show us something groovie
piont of this all... where theres a will theres a way
remember, never let anything stand in your way ok

Good luck Carol set the scene
It will be good to see you
Up there on the screen
I'm sure you'll look your finest
A real movie Queen
I've just bought a DVD burner
A webcams on the way
I might pop on myself
Although I look like death
But as you know, I'm very slow
So please don't hold your breath
I hope you get all sorted
And know you'll do your best
Time for me to go again
I've worked hard and need a rest
You don't stop laughing when you grow old; you grow old when you stop laughing.

Lie to me baby..take 1....co-written by Starsailor and X4...performed by an anonymous wannabe
Lie to me baby.mp3
Please lie to me baby
say that you still care
tell me that you love me
that we're still a pair
Don't leave me here alone now
standing by myself
can not stand the thought of
our love up on a shelf
Chorus
lie to him
It does no harm
lie to him
Use your charm
look him in the eyes
lie to his face
then walk away
Won't you stop and listen
theres one thing you should know
need you to lie to me baby
and say that you won't go
Tell me you're not leaving
lie to protect my pride
Say that you're not going
To see some other guy
Chorus
lie to him
It does no harm
lie to him
Use your charm
look him in the eyes
lie to his face
then walk away
Please lie to me baby
say that you still care
tell me that you love me
and that we're still a pair
Don't leave me here alone now
standing by myself
I can not stand the thought of
our love stored on a shelf

Yes. Quite in the good way.
With each line written, more experience is displayed. And that is the key. Write, write, write. Write until it hurts. Write when you can't write. Write when the muse hits. But if nothing else. Write. I've mentioned it before and I'll mention it again. Gordon Lightfoot, one of the most respected names in music and song writing, once said, "you haven't written a song until you have written 400 songs".
I don't claim to be a good writer. I claim to be a song writer. And that is debatable. I may not be a good writer as I write that which strikes my fancy. But what I see and read in this forum, is a lot of people who have opened up a new avenue. An avenue which they might not have opened in another life.
And you can thank Kirk & Clancy for that.

I seemed to have been lax
And this thread has gotten away
Its amazing what can happen
When you're absent for a day.
This Band of the Faithful
Have displayed talent deep
Their rhyming, playing and singing
Will surely earn their keep.
And now we have seen video
Added in to the fray
Soon we should see faces
Added to what they say.

We've had a lot of fun here LC and personally it's improved my writing, that's good advice to just keep writing and so true about this site it's opened up a whole new world for me, the thread has produced a few songs now which is great, thanks to Kenny for starting it and to Kenny, Carol, Knight, and Aunt Doty for keeping the momentum up, to yourself for pointing us in the right direction and to Kirk and Clancy for making it possible. Hope I haven't forgotten anybody
Best Wishes
Chris

I too withdrew for some time
And everything has changed
To see LC had posted
Was a very nice surprise
Kenny's new take on his song
Pleased both ears and eyes
What great fun this thread is
We don't have to rehearse
And just thought I would say Knight
I enjoyed your latest verse

Now you have done it, Kenny and Chris
I've burst into song, I have been quite remiss!
No, not a vocal, I'll save that till later
I thought that an effort on blues harp was safer
Please bear in mind that this is my first shot
I just grabbed it and winged it (I do that a lot)
I know that the sounds are both meager and tentative
But I tried to protect all your ears that are sensitive.
The joy of creation has been just the ticket
I hope that you guys will be able to stick it
It's all hit and miss, but much more of the latter
I hope you don't render me road kill or splatter.

Quite a speech there, you have made
Worthy of a role in Tosca
Sounds to me like you just won
That goal of champions, a shiny Oscar
