Our University song

The poem before the song...

Staring at the flickering screen
my eyes begin to numb
I go and grab some more caffeine
what have I now done
an office chair at home so plush
tucked in a corner space
just sitting here when came a rush
brought a smile right to my face
its 1 AM this days been long
its time I go to bed
I'll close this out with a new song
that just popped in my head

A weeks gone by without a word
I must say its quite absurd
I miss the joy of rhyming lines
with those of you to pass the time
Has the thrill dried up, gone away
left you all with nothing to say
shall this thread be stored on a shelf
or shall I keep talking to myself

Hello again my rhyming chums
I'm glad to see this thread still lives
I thought that I had killed it dead
So suffered an attack of glums
Now tell us Kenny, what now gives
As you are captain of this thread.

Did you notice, a rhyming scheme!
Now I just must find a theme -

Aaah, the rhyming couplet has returned
I'd hoped I had those bridges burned...

While you good folks have been away
I've written two or three nice lyrics
I'm quite pleased, but who can say
They might make other people sick.

The best I think is pure Pink Floyd
My brain just did it late one night.
I hope that members won't avoid
The challenge, or just get a fright.

To replicate the Pink Floyd sound
Would not be easy, for anyone
I like to think that its profound
And I'm in awe of how its done.

The lyrics maybe would sound good
In Damien Rice style - sweet and sad
Perhaps our Chris (I know he could)
How about it eh, Grand-dad?

I suppose that means I'm now committed
I'm off to get the thing submitted...........

Sorry this thread was put aside
I was otherwise preoccupied
My house is full of refugees
From places they just could not be
I've found it hard to concentrate
This has slowed down my workrate
My guitars are scattered round the home
For days they've sat there all alone
Soon I should get straight again
Renew acquaintance with string and pen
Sorry Kenny we left you alone
But now we're back we can atone
Carol I would like to see
The lyrics that you have written
If you've posted point me there
Or tell me when you're submitting
I would like to try the Damien Rice
I always find that style fitting
So now we're back it's a resurrection
The thread continues in a forward direction

Sorry Chris I got distracted
Got outbid in ebay madness
Suddenly my pride contracted
Now I'm trying to cope with sadness.

I'll put aside my disappointment
The promised lyrics I'll submit
Patch my wounds with healing ointment
Oh the pain once you commit

Don't worry Carol about the set back
They'll be more guitars to have a crack at
Don't let those Snipers shoot you down
Play the same game and make them frown
Ebay's a sport, a battle of wits
So try and outflank those sniping twits
It's hard to lose a guitar
That you have set your heart on
But guitars they are like buses
Another one will come along

But like buses it is certain another one will

The thread continues
With gay abandon
a small hiatus
To gather thoughts
And then regroup
With above cohorts
Good to see the Knight return
To the crusade
From which we learn
And as I watch this thread ascend
I gain such joy
From my literary Friends

From far flung lands
This Band maintains
The feel of Music's touch
We gather here to celebrate
That thing we love so much.

Anyone up for a thread collab?
a sad blokes tune about not wanting to hear that his gal is done with him...
Heres where I'm at, no particular layout yet just some thoughts on some verses. I'm hearing a semi-fast tempo thing, genre unspecified as of yet.

Please lie to me Baby

Please lie to me baby
say that you still care
tell me that you love me
that we're still a pair

Don't leave me here alone now
standing by myself
I can not stand the thought of
our love stored on a shelf

Won't you stop and listen
theres one thing you should know
need you to lie to me baby
as I watch you go

Lie to me baby_acawacapella_lol.mp3

Now I really am struck dumb
Acapella? What's he thinking?
Isn't he that shrinking vi-ol-ot
Thinks his voice is out of plumb?
Only sings when he's been drinking?
Thinks his voice will make us cry-a-lot?

Then, behold, a voice of splendour!!
Notice please, a rhyming scheme -
Hmmm, not real sure I can continue.......
So, I must confess with candour
It's hard to tell you what I mean
And make the rhyming scheme still true.

I sure hope you get my meaning
Ringing out across the planet
That was splendid, quite 'the thing'
Notes of ringing wonder streaming
Not at all 'the dying gannet'.....
I think you've cracked it - you can sing!!!!

Put away the bottle
step back from your pen
your not making sense
a singer is not Ken

acawacapella
is something new my dear
acawacapella
simply means have fear

I like your true desire
to give my ego some fire
i just recieved a wire
hope is oh so dire

alas I shall continue
never shall I rest
to reach that final goal
of... worst of all the best

What on earth is acawacapella?
Something more than merely singing?
My thoughts were thinking a-koa-la-capella?
Something furry from down under?
Hmmm, never heard one try to sing......
Maybe how it sounds when bringing
Up something - like 'Have a chunder'?

(I'm sorry, I'm laughing at my own joke!)

Hello Kirk it's good to see you
Checking out our rhyme
Eleven pages is quite long
It's taken us some time
We've tried a myriad of styles
Our verses have brought lots of smiles

Now I must go, see you later fellas
I'm off to write some Acawacapellas
Apparently they're all the rage
Onwards we go to the twelfth page

this thread has been a lot of fun
of this I can truely attest
it really is addicting to some
as the mind can't seem to rest
