Find my way back home
This an original I put together today using my new Home Studio Setup.
My inspiration is a combo of Pink Floyd meets the narrator of War of the Worlds and me wanting to settle down after many years of moving around for the lyrics.
This was all put together using Garage Band on my new Mac, I did use some apple loops (loops are the way forward IMHO). Here is a breakdown:
Bass - Me playing a few lines through the Pod X3 live and making loops
Drums - All garage band loops
Keys - All Garage band loops
Guitar (Rhythm) - Me playing Arpeggios using my Pod X3 live and new Variax 600 again saved as loops
Vocals - Again through the Pod x3
Lead guitar - Me again using Pod x3 and Variax, I actually created 12 loops from about 35 minutes of jamming so its the best bits and not live.
I hope you dont get to bored or want to cry!
Please leave feedback however brutal!

Thanks Chris, this is something that I'll listen to time and time again. I really like it. Thanks also for providing recording details. Let's all have a productive 2008, and to those of us,(i.e. me) who never seem to finish a project, let's get to work!
Happy New Year.
Ian

Dig it! Well done all around on this one- one thing that I noticed is that a tension is built up with the chord structure. I kept feeling that it should resolve to another chord during the main keyboard riff.
Sweet playing on the solo. Awesome tone.
I would put a touch of reverb/delay on the vocals just to make them more "spacey" sounding- but not so much as to make the words hard to understand.
Another idea for you- in place of the keyboard riff, that could be a place to put in some singing. There's some good singers around here that could help you out if you're not comfortable doing it yourself.

Sounds quite good there Krissovo. I agree with AT, in that you have a Lou Reed thing going there, but I'd say with a little Pink Floyd thrown in for good measure.

You are all very kind, I feel this is the best work I have done to date and I am quite proud of what I have done. I have looked closely at my limitations and with this song I have found a way round them.
Ian - You have made my day with your comments about listening to them again. What a motivator that comment is, thank you!
Chris - I have played it back sat in comfy chair with my eyes closed and I hear what you are saying about adding singing as well as a chord change for the tension. They are both cool ideas that I would like to try out so thanks for the direction.

Hey Kriss, I don't know what I was expecting, but what a surprise! That really was excellent. I was just enjoying listening, and then the guitar solo kicked in.....and I was impressed. Very well done, you can be proud.

Just got back from vacation, so I'm late posting.
I agree that this is your best work yet. You really raised the bar on this one Krissovo. The guitar work was impressive and I liked the way the whole thing went together. Great work!!!

Thanks Fly
In my opinion its mostly down to the loops I made, the bass was a bit of luck I just noodled for 20 minutes and hopped it up and created the loops in Garage band. Similar for the arpeggio and solo, I doubt I could play this live just yet.
Is it cheating? Possibly but its releasing a lot frustration I have/had oh and the software is so easy to use.

Well Kriss .....AT got Lou Reed from it, Starsailor got Tangerine Dream, Fireblade got Floyd and I thought that too (floyd) right up until you started to sing then it instantly changed to Dire straights - reminded me of 'Romeo and Juliet'.
Whichever you go with, that was fabulous
When all else fails, read the instructions.
