Just checked some classical charts I have that use drop-D tuning. For those there is a circled 6 = D that appears once above the time signatue of the first line.
Since you say the music is fingerstyle pop, I would suspect an alternate tuning. Although I have not encouter any that tune only the 1 (high E string) up or down.
