So It Is - Completed Version

The Breedlove is back...so I sat down and recorded the rest of the song (including the 2nd verse and bridge).

Perhaps this song will be a helpful reminder of choosing love and renewing our sense and sensibilities toward one another during this holiday season.

I rarely say this about my own music...but I love this tune. It embeds itself down deep melodically, and reminds me of some great times sitting around listening to my parents' records of the the Everly Brothers with my brother Mark. His birthday was on the 12th, so I dedicate this song to him. After all, he did come back late one night to give me a ride home just so I could delve into my first kiss with a girl a little longer!

That was a long time ago. So it is...

I'm not sure I agree about adding things now, I love the simple, peaceful acoustic sound, it has a beauty all of it's own - unless of course you add some more acoustic guitar!! Whatever you decide, it's a beautful song.

When all else fails, read the instructions.

I tend to agree with Jomi. Sometimes I think it's best to keep things simple and uncomplicated but that's just my two cents. Beautiful song Todd.

Jomi - Well I certainly love your sound, so I might have to think about this a little more. I wish I could sit down and play this with one other acoustic guitar player, and we could sing the thing with harmonies. Some simple, acoustic lead riffs would go well, without overproducing the whole thing. Then, when the song is on the CMA awards (ha, ha!) we could add the symphony!

Diredigits, thank you so much. I appreciate your point of view as well.

  Long?

I agree that it shouldn't sound long, but it does. I agree with everyone, it's a beautiful song, and the vocals are lovely 'beauty beheld by my eyes' gets the hairs on my arms up. I think it's down to lack of other instruments. Violin would be fantastic. Bringing drums in half way through would be good...a nice deep resonant snare sound.
Great work!

Those are great ideas Ian. I think a number of us have thought similar things (strings especially). I keep hoping my buddy Marshall will record some acoustic guitar lead (slide?) of some kind. If he does, I promise I will post it. Thanks for the comment, and Merry Christmas/Happy New year to you and those near to you.

Great song. The feeling and your style makes me want to sit in a quiet coffee house and listen to a full set. Keep it up. Love the tone on the Breedlove.

Todd, OK , I'm getting REAL confused on this one!! I like it alone, just the acoustic....but, yeh, I can hear some other accompaniment stuff, too.

It's a tough one. Yeh, I an imagine a soft fiddle in the background, just filling in between the verses or phrases. Or a soft Dobro type thing working on the counterpoints of the vocals. Along with an additional acoustic.

Then on a second listen, I can hear some piano, a violin, and maybe some electric guitar, sort of reminiscent of Dicky Betts of the Allman Brothers.

Anyway you look at it or listen to it, terrific song. And well done, too!!

Thanks guys! John, you are always so complementary. I need to have a disc that plays your affirmations for me daily!

AOGE - I'm glad that you liked the song as well. Maybe you'll be in Charlotte one night and (if I can find the courage) I'll play a set at our coffeehouse.

Andy S. - I'm as confused as you. Sometimes I want something else in there, and then other times I think - "Well...I really like the simple, minimal, guy tells his woman he loves her with guitar" - kind of sound. Then again, it's a fine line between guy tells a girl he loves her with guitar and the moment in "Animal House" when they bust the guys guitar on the stairs.

Thanks for your comments. And dad...it lives...it breathes!

Todd, Oh boy! I think I should've clarified on the Dicky Betts thing. I was thinking something like "Blue Skies" tone wise and keeping it in the tempo you have there. Not the more typical Allman Bros. Free form, long-winded loud leads. Hope that wasn't what you interpreted. My bad if you did.

I'm confident that, whatever you do, if you add decide to add something or not, the finished product will remain beautiful!! Good Work!

AndyS - I really appreciate your thoughts. I was just thinking out loud myself. Maybe kazoo and cowbell wouldn't be so bad??? (Ha!)

Billy, yes I have participated in via de christo, which is another version of Emmaus and Cursillo.
