Hey Trip, welcome. I'm new also, so I really can't give much advice. The only thing I can say is that there is no magic. Unless you are a true natural it will take time. I've been at it for a little over 3 weeks and have found that with everyday practice the chord changing is coming a little quicker each day. I have found that scales work well (although they are boring) for building dexterity and calluses. I have eleven chords (not counting F Major...hard yet) that I go over each time I practice. Pick a song that is easy as far as chords go and practice that also. Don't get frustrated, if you do put it down and come back later. MAKE IT FUN! Practice, practice and practice some more.
