  Dave Gilmour broadcast

I know there's a lot of Pink Floyd/Dave Gilmour fans here so I thought you'd like to know he recorded a 1 hour session for BBC Radio 2 on Saturday which is available on their website. You can listen to the audio broadcast and there is also a partial video clip too. Sometimes BBC sites only allow UK based users to listen to their broadcasts but I'm not sure if it applies to this session.

On a related subject a guitar magazine here in the UK recently celebrated the 60th anniversary of Fender guitars by having a poll of the greatest Fender players. Surprisingly, to me at least, Dave Gilmour won, beating Jimi hendrix into second place. For me, just the sight of a black and white Fender Strat evokes memories of Jimi at the Isle of Wight or on the Lulu Show, where they pulled the plug on him. On the other hand I rarely associate Fenders with Pink Floyd. Well, I suppose that's what being dead for 35 years does for you.

BTW the Lulu show story is pretty funny. Halfway through playing "Hey Joe" he stops playing "this rubbish" and jams on "Sunshine of your Love" as a tribute to the recently disbanded Cream. The video can be viewed here. Check out his feedback during Lulu's introduction (almost certainly deliberate), the fantastic intro to Hey Joe ("Watch yor ears, watch your ears!"), his mischievous glances as he knows somethings afoot, and singing "We're being put of the air" as his jam runs over the alloted time slot. Apparently Lulu didn't have time to sing her closing number. Shame. Anyway, beat that Dave Gilmour!
