GfB&B Audio Video Chat room official release.
GfB&B Audio|Video chat room officially released
Well it's been a while coming, but the beta version of the Audio/Video chat room that many of our members have been enjoying over the last few months is now fully integrated into the forum... this means that you will now be automatically logged into the chat using your forum name (no separate login needed). You can now also see Who's in the Chat Room by looking at the "Members currently using the GfB&B Audio Video Chat room" bar at the top of each page (just below the nav bar).
I need to give a BIG thank you to our member SkyNet (aka Carey) who is the one who made this all possible. The integration of the video chat room into our forum was way beyond my capabilities. He has done a great job and has put a lot of work into this on his weekends and time off over the last couple of months... and he hasn't complained once and has been an absolute pleasure to deal with... thank you so much Carey.
So, it's there to be used. You can also use the audio/video chat one on one by using the IM button.
Please note:There is a limit of 6 users that can use any one room at any one time. If you are the 7th user to join the chat you will automatically get put into a new room. You can either wait there for more users to join or wait until someone from the other room (or rooms) decides to change to your room or leaves the other room so you can enter as the 6th user.
Moderators and admins can enter any room even if full.
New members please note:
New users will not be able to access the chat until they have been here a certain amount of time and have a certain amount of posts or are known and recommended by an established member. This isn't for any other reason than a video chat room can be used for offensive purposes. This has happened already a couple of times... and as some of our member's children are sometimes in the chat room with them, we want to take precautions against anyone being offended.

Gee J_C, with such an understanding response like that, how could we make you wait? You should see the chat link up the top of the page now.
Cheers

The last 2 times I have been in the GFB&B chat room , some form of java script AD or something locks my Mac up tighter then a drum , and I have to do a hard shut down as I get the spinning beach ball , then I have a heck of a time getting back to GFB&B web site , and if it does load it still shows me being in the chat room . Then I will manually reboot my Mac , only then will it show me gone from the chat room .
I noticed eddiez in the chat room and hes not even there , he too is on a Mac .
Just Never had this problem with the other chat room .

We've had site problems the last 24 hours so the getting back to the GFB&B site would have nothing to do with the chat room.
This new chat room is not running on our server, so when you have problems with it, there is nothing we can do about it... I think mostly when it locks your computer up it's because of one of the ads being displayed... but there is nothing we can do about that. Without the ads displaying the chat room is very expensive to lease and I know nobody here wants a paid chat room.
The old chat room was run off our server so any problems there I could at least look into and fix. The audio video chat room is a whole different system. It has it's bugs but all in all it's pretty incredible that we have access to this technology where most of the time things work pretty well.
Cheers

It wasnt meant as a complaint clancy I was just speaking out loud as to the problem I was having .
I figured it was a new Ad doing funny things , but it seems odd that it still shows a person still in chat here when the person is no longer in video chat , if the program is not on your server & not being able to get back to here with ease .
I'll still use it
SO, let me Please say : "THANK YOU" for all your wonderful work you are doing
Dont get me wrong I LOVE the video chat room , I think Rockerbob , eddiez and I were the first to really get into it and use it when first introduced We were on it for hours on end .

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across as if you were complaining SprayTech... just fed up with the problems with the site being up and down for the last 24 hours.
The reason that a member still shows as being in chat is that the login is integrated into our database so that members don't have to login twice... if you don't logout properly (as in shut down your window yourself) and you get jammed up it doesn't log you out, so you still show up as being there... actually the old chat room had that exact problem too... of showing users still logged in when they had left... it is annoying.
Not being able to get back onto the forum really is another issue altogether that has nothing to do with the chat. They are unrelated... we have been having some database problems lately... it could have happened at the same time as you were kicked out of chat... also if our database has gone down you may have problems accessing chat too... but the jamming up would be more of a userplane ad problem I would think.
How wonderful it would be if everything ran smoothly.

I know keeping this place up and running is quite the task ( and we all appreciate all your hard work , I might add so we can have fun ), then having server issues from an outside source would put anyone into a frazzle .
Thanks for enlightening me

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
Buy it now for only $10 |
