So Rock music I'm guessing?

Then you'll want an electric guitar. Acoustic does work for rock, but it's not as often used.

I myself reccommend guitar packs for starters.

Theres the Behringer V-Tone package, which is the one I'm using, It actually does sound very nice, especially after a few tweaks to it. I picked it up for about 110$:
