I seriously considered it 30 years ago. I played Florida beach bars as a solo, duo and a couple acoustic bands. I moved to Colorado and did the same as well as a few electric rock bands. I didn't make much money so I worked in music stores to support my music habit. Selling guitars and audio gear, audio consulting, guitar repairs, etc. My problem is I have no tolerance for the business side of music, or any business really. Business is like politics. It takes a certain mindset, and I don't have it. The music is a secondary concern if you need to make money. Business is number one.

Anyway, I found I have a knack for computer stuff, and that pays me better than music would and I don’t have to be the businessman. Sadly, I am a capitalist, even if not a businessman. I have just a few things I can do well, so for money I have to go with the skill that pays best. Even if I did hire out the business end, the chances of making the same level of income, or any income at all, is not good. Many people with hit records end up in debt as a result. Unless I was a star, gigging wouldn’t pay the bills.

But thanks for your vote of confidence in my abilities!
