Tomg, I use Adobe Auditions and some VST Plug-ins that I downloaded from a link provided by Tekker{I believe it was}. anyways, I used a setting called "full mix" in "channel mixer" from auditions, and for VST's I used "classic compressor" {mix-down & hard compress} and "MDA Stereo"{simulator} and "Ambience"{pady-vocal mellow}. Don't recall which order though, bad habit of mine not making notes. Luv playing around with the options or whatever you call them, I call them all "filters" don't know if thats right or not but thats how I think of them. hope you liked it.

First off guys nice job...ALL!!!!

MY thoughts on lyrics(Just a beginning)

Just Because

Looking backwards through time
To my childhood

Swinging on the tree, jumping in the creek
Hide and seek, Playing try to kiss me

Just Because, Just Because

First girl I kissed, Baseball in the park
Getting home after dark, The school bus missed

Just Because, Just Because

Just a start maybe someone can run with it......?

Hey guys...I just noticed that I didn't read the whole thread... I listened to the first few instrumentals and my mind started wandering with lyric thoughts. I didn't mean to step on any toes with new lyrics....sorry, my bad.

Wouldn't ya know it....I spent the better part af the last 3 hours trying to figure out timing with the lyrics and the music(which I will admit was fun). So I decide I will give it a try and record what I came up with. Not using Audacity yet I went through Kenny's(X4) tutorial think I have it down(pretty much),By the way NICE JOB on that . So I go to plug in my mic to give it a test run and what should happen, I don't have an adapter for the mic I have. So unless I go out tonight and get one you will hear nothing from me. Also am I supposed to have a special mic or will a karaoke mic with an adapter work?

Welcome aboard the wonderful world of recording Brian

Yes almost any mic that you can connect to the pc should work ok, and like the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for". Some very cheap mics sound fine, others sound as bad as my singing. Use what you have until your comfortable then you can decide if you need or want to upgrade. Adapters...you can never have too many or too many different types, as you'll find out the more you get into recording.

as far as how to record your lyrics, its best to record them seperatly if you can, this will leave options later for adding effects or final mixdown adjustments. When your finished recording you can export the complete tune as an mp3 for posting, saving your original seperate tracks for later editing and such. Hope that helps...waiting to hear you and your sound...

Hey Kenny, sometimes you gotta be careful what you ask for....gonna need a little help. Voice is a little low. I don't know how to mix tracks so here is my vocals. Singing should start at 7 sec mark.

Thanks for putting that together....Obviously I can't sing, maybe somebody with a real voice would like to try? ? (Is there an Elle sighting?). If you can explain quickly how did you mix them?

Thanks again,
Brian

Oh here is the lyrics:

Just Because

Looking backward through time
To my childhood

Swinging on the tree, Jumping in the creek
Playing hide and seek, or kick the can

Just because, Just because we can

The first girl I kissed, playing baseball in the park
Getting home after dark, or the school bus missed

Just because, Just because we can

Riding with no hands, playing truth or dare
Putting gum in her hair, building castles in the sand

Just because, Just because we can

I can't forget all those things that I used to do

Friday nights with the Dukes, staying out with my friends
watching scary movies 'till the end, or reading Judy Blume

Just because, Just because we can

Ohh how I miss those days

Again I didn't mean to step on any toes with this, hope nobody is offended (except by my voice). Thanks for the opportunity to get involved, I really enjoyed the process. One of the great things about this site everyone is made to feel very welcome.
