Mine does the same thing too sometimes. I just reboot my DVD player with the
PT DVD in it then it plays ok. I then hit the play button and it behaves normally. It doesn't do this all the time but when it does try rebooting your DVD player.
It's probably something in the coding that's just slightly incompatile between dvd players.. For one thing I do not have a universal dvd player. The states use Region 1 coding, Europe Region 2, and so on. I am not sure what the aussies/asia are using. A universal dvd player can play all dvd's without any problem. I think those are set to region 0.
