The Lone Eagle

Hi Everyone, I am brand new and hopping after all these years I can finally learn how to play the guitar. Especially to fingerpick. I have had a long association with the guitar since 1955 when my parents bought me a new Gibson ES299D brand new. Shortly thereafter I heard the magic of a Marton Dreadnaught (D28) and I was totally hooked. Sold my Gibson and bought a Martin in NYC. The strings and action tore my finders up and even after I had the action reworked, the bridge lowered and light gauge strings I was still in pain every time I went to play it. I went to college with Don McLean who wanted to buy it before he went onto become a big star and I kept it but unfortunately sold it.
I am just getting over a serious bout with cancer, surgery, radiation. I lost my left eye and most of the bone and tissue on my left hand side going back to my brain. I am grateful to be alive and I figure I have another opportunity NOW to finally learn how to play this instrument well or at least something I can be proud of.

As a surprise gift my wife bought me a Zager Model 80 OM (Orchestra Model) and it plays like a dream and sounds as good as any Martin. I am thrilled.

So here I am and I need to start from scatch. I need to learn Chords for certain and whatever goes next. I am open for any suggestions and advice any of you pickers out there want to give a young fella like me. I will be 68 on 8/26. Life is good !
