Um. You haven't read some of my posts about the current state of affairs with Gibson. Many of my friends who have been playing semi pro for decades are appalled at the decrease in quality of the Gibson product in the last 1o years. They used to have the high quality standards that you speak of but, now it is hit and miss.
A couple of years ago a friend of mine went into a mom and pop store that ordered in 10 Gibson's. 9 went back with finish flaws or fret problems. Another friend went to buy an LP at a big chain. He went through about 20 and gave up. They all were flawed in some way. He bought an Edwards instead. None of my friends can figure out why the quality has gone down so much. Twenty years ago you could pick a Gibbie off the rack blindfolded knowing it would be perfect.
