I like the sonic furniture idea. I hear them as I, IV and V chords, pure and simple. Or ii, iii, vi, vii, or II, III, VI ... Once you can hear them, it shrinks any musical environment down to a simple, easy to navigate terrain. There is less to Music, once you understand its structure, not more. That was a relief to me as I learned more and more about it. For many years, it seemed the more I learned, the more there was to learn, but one day (when the penny dropped) I realized the opposite is true. Potentially infinite detail, perhaps, but the core structure is very clear, concise and "hearable".
