Week-End Collab.......Anyone?

Hey All

Trev aka "Hilch" posted some cool lyrics that I had a play with at the weekend called weekend(....LOL) and he has kindly allowed me to ask for a collab on this as I love it so much.

Trouble is that I do not do it justice so is anyone up for turning this into something cool.

I suspose what it needs is the following:

Lyrics - Mine are only in for a guideline
Bass - Nice simple or fancy bass line
Intro - Possibly a a nice arpegio style with the bass line before drums
Solo - Who wants to blast some cool rock licks out?
2nd Guitar part - the riff needs some highlighting maybe?

I have attached two files one is just guitar and drums and the other has my poor voice on it with my interpretation. There are no rules, you can be good, great or a noobie like me just as long as you have fun with it.

Come on lads, give it a go.
Attached Files
File Type: mp3 Week-End version no vox.mp3 (4.15 MB, 28 views)
File Type: mp3 Week-End version2.mp3 (4.15 MB, 34 views)

which take are you talking about using?

The most recent one you posted - "NewTry.mp3". Everything sounds great in that one - I just thought that the keys washed out the guitar a bit and also drowned out SlickCat's slide solo. With a minor tweak on the mix, I think that's a great take.

EDIT: I d/l'ed it a little bit ago and had a try at doing the vox just for kicks....I'll gladly leave them to Kriss, his are much better than mine!

NewTry2 = less synth
NewTry2A = only one rhythm track...on the original{NewTry} I added the track twice because I sure luv that bass sound.

let me know what you think.

NewTry2.mp3
NewTry2A.mp3

Edit...Kriss' voice was made for this.

I think you've got the mix right now, that sounds great. You can still hear the keys, but they're much more subtle and blended, and don't overpower the guitar as much. I can't really hear a lot of difference with the rhythm track doubled - you may be mixing on a better setup than I'm listening on, so if it makes it sound a little fatter, go for it!

Anybody else have any input on the mix? We're all in this together, so let's hear it!

Nah, I really didn't notice. To tell you the truth, I only listened to it as far as SlickCat's slide solo to hear how the mix sounded, then listened to the first five or six bars a bunch of times trying to hear the difference where you doubled the rhythm track. Glad you caught it though It sounds great - you've done an awesome job mixing it. Thanks for taking the time and effort to do it!

Do you think Slicks should be raised a little?.....I've been listening to this for 3 days straight so I need some help in making sure you guys like it. by the way 3 days man thats like woodstock ain't it

Edit...{on dual rhythm tracks}..Stratrat, I'm listening thru my monitors and I have the advantage of instantly switching tracks on an off....but then again these unskilled ears may just be hearing things.

Hey guys...just took a listen to Vers 9.0 sounds pretty good But I think the synth/keys are a little far back.... I thought they gave the tune a psycadelic feel...but now sounds like a fly in my ear. bzzzz..bzzzz
maybe just a hair louder...?

I'm lost at where to go, this is my last one until we take a census on what we need. Kirk & Clancy are gonna have me by the short strings if I keep posting all these, suckin up the storage space an all.

Maybe someone else can take a stab it?

This one is louder yet than the others, so we have plenty to choose from...

edit- don't let the title fool you, i just ran out of numbers is all. lol

LOL

Ok, so I'm laying a vocal track over top of this one, titled Ver 1739536KennysFav.mp3....any vetoes on that?

I can't tell the difference between that one, KennysFav, and the one that 4XStringDrive posted, titled Ver 9.0NewTry.mp3, so I'm going with the latest one. I'll do the whole song, just the vocals, to THIS exact timing, and that way you can white out whatever parts you don't want for Kris' voice and bring his vocals right up, volume-wise.

Will have to do it tomorrow, though, I'm bushed, as I was jamming all afternoon with a bunch of friends. Worked on one of my own originals, as well..woohooo, anyone ready for some Fleetwood Mac style sounds?

Elle
