Week-End Collab.......Anyone?
Hey All
Trev aka "Hilch" posted some cool lyrics that I had a play with at the weekend called weekend(....LOL) and he has kindly allowed me to ask for a collab on this as I love it so much.
Trouble is that I do not do it justice so is anyone up for turning this into something cool.
I suspose what it needs is the following:
Lyrics - Mine are only in for a guideline
Bass - Nice simple or fancy bass line
Intro - Possibly a a nice arpegio style with the bass line before drums
Solo - Who wants to blast some cool rock licks out?
2nd Guitar part - the riff needs some highlighting maybe?
I have attached two files one is just guitar and drums and the other has my poor voice on it with my interpretation. There are no rules, you can be good, great or a noobie like me just as long as you have fun with it.
Come on lads, give it a go.

Sorry Elle,
We posted the final version. Wish you came earlier....Krissovo really wanted someone else to do vocals....but no-one else would. In our final mix the vocals kinda got lost...(very low volume) and we had no way to fix it.

+1 and if you can keep your vocals seperate from the rest...We just might be able to remix you in and make the final another notch better.
Lyrics are on the first page of this thread.
krissovo...if you saved your vocals on a seperate track, sure would like a copy to see what we can do....I thought your vocals were great for the tune...hint hint...in case you might want to redo them seperately.
While I'm at it...GT, got a seperate of yours as well? I can redo the keyboard bit seperately, but only if everyone wants to see where this can go.
I've been playing with this all day, but can't get the vocals up without losing the overall sound.
Besides I could sure use the experience at mixing.

It would be awsome if we could get the vocals more up front.
I can always redo the slide part.

Kenny - if we're gonna re-do and re-mix some of the song, could we start out with the no-vox version I posted in post #8 of this thread? Give it a listen and see what you think - the guitar and drums are the same, I just like bass line better. I came in a couple bars later and threw a little more into it. I think it would give us a little more polished final product. It's up to you guys and I'm OK with whatever everybody decides.

Hey guys I would love to redo this, SlickCat, your part was great and being seperated from the rest makes it easier to add in and sound right in the mix, If you feel like you "want" to redo it thats fine by me.
Stratrat...sure no problem, I liked both takes from you, yours and krissovos take with-out the vox is fine for remixing.
Now if we can beg GT and krissovo to submit their seperate tracks..we'd be good to go. And possibly get Ellen's voice in the mix as well.
I'm sure there are others more qualified than me for mixing that might like to take a stab at it also.
This song does have a lot of potential if we just press harder a little bit.
Edit- this will also allow GT some more time if he likes, to throw in some awesome fills/phrasing here and there and take a stab at those background vox he mentioned, No rush going to the finalizing until everyone is happy with their part I say....Lets rock this for all its worth.

Hey guys if we're gonna do this...heres the base-line track we're going to base on, Its Stratrats second take, same rhythm a little nicer seperation, so lets be sure we're all on the same page so to speak.
I added a 2 second blank space at the beginning, makes it eaiser to align everything later{for me anyways}.

Ok, who's around to help me? I recorded backing vocals to the track, but I had to use the original vocal recording to do so, so I'd know where things were at, and where to join in on.
Or, should I have just sung the whole song, and you take what you want from all of that, and merge it onto the male vocals part?
Arggghh what to do, what to do....

Elle - if you want to do the backing vocals, the easiest/best way would be to hang out until we persuade Kriss to re-do his vox over the new base track. Once that's done, download it and fire away!!!
For mixing purposes I'm thinking it would be probably be best if everyone uploaded their part as a separate track so Kenny can put them all together and do the final mix.

I agree, Stratrat, I'm having problems with 'catching the in' point, and I've tried twice now. I do need to hear the vocals in order to join in, otherwise I'm just stepping on krissovo's long hairy toes.

Some Backing Ideas:
Here's my ideas on what I want to add behind, sorry that it's kinda 'toppy' and even loud, but damn, I'm used to a sound man fixing things for me! LOL But this is good practice at learning how to mix and equalize it. And the timing won't be bang on, because I deleted some of the 'dead air' when I was just listening to the song.

Thats pretty sweet Ellen, like Stratrat says...lets see if we can bribe krissovo and GT into doing seperate tracks or at least re-laying them upon this one. I like where your going with it though...nice cords you got there, gonna add a touch or you can, of reverb just to kick it up a notch. I'm all geeked up on this now...thought the first was pretty good can't wait to see this one.

Man, don't forget SlickCat's slide solo, too - that is TASTY! That "classic rock" feel fits so perfectly into the song, and he absolutely nailed the tone over Kriss' rhythm guitar.....perfect blend!
