As Knight said - take a look at Kirk's lessons and watch some of his playing in them. You'll notice that the vast majority of them are on acoustic guitar, and are much closer to your desired genre than that of a shredder or "electric guitar hero" (although Kirk can MORE than hold his own on an electric too!).
PT is really genre-neutral - like AT said, it doesn't really address the physical aspects of playing, per se, or tie into any particular style.
