PT will give you the entire fret board as your playground and if you have looked at Kirk's lessons you will see that 90% are geared to the acoustic guitar. The majority of electric lessons are for
slide.
If you are interested in following the COTM and playing melodic music all over the fretboard then PT would definately help.
