so I haven't got it right...
if the question is "do I press the 6th string on the 7th fret to compare the pitches between the 6th and the open 5th string?" then the answer is "yes"!
and if that's not the question then I give up, and go to my English classes

edit: if you have your 6th string tuned to D, then you'll have note of A on your 7th fret and A on your open 5th string.
