Knight - I just noticed that checkbox....I don't use 'quick reply', I click on the orange button at the lower left that says "Post Reply", so I've never even tried using that little checkbox.

The 'here' and 'there' thing is fairly easy. When you use the "Insert Link" function (the one that looks like a globe with a link at the bottom right), your URL will show up in your post looking something like this:

{URL="http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/forum/troubleshooting/12833-editing-quotes/"}
http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/forum/troubleshooting/12833-editing-quotes/{/URL}

(Again, using the [ ] brackets instead of { }, as in my previous post). The first part (the {URL="http://blablabla"} is the actual link; the second part (which I italicized and made blue) is the descriptor. When your link appears in your post, you'll notice that second part (in the example above, the part I italicized and made blue) is highlighted. If you edit that part to say "THIS" or "HERE" or "LINK" or whatever, that's what will show up in the post - but clicking on it will take the reader to the actual URL. Here are examples before and after editing that second part:

#1: Check out this Buy Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar online at Musician's Friend
#2: Check out this Tele

If it's not highlighted in blue (mine always are when I insert links), just go in and manually edit that second part to say whatever you want it to say:

LINK

LOOKIE HERE!

HEY! OVER THERE!

Also, if you're pasting a URL into the link window, remember to edit out the "http://" that's pre-formatted in the window - otherwise you end up with a bad link because it will append your link onto the end of it and your link URL will start out with "http://http://....." - no workie.
