Sustain?

I hope im posting this in the right forum!

I havent been playing long. I am trying to learn a classic rock sounding song that i think was played on a fender stratocaster. I have a strat type guitar with humbuckers more suited to metal. The song is "Ending Credits" by Opeth. There are alot of hammer on sustained notes that my amp/guitar cant do, it drops off. I see they sell sustainer pedals but they are kind of expensive $100+. Will a sustainer pedal help?

I found a clip of the song on youtube so you can hear what im talking about www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAn5_7k86bs

Here is a zip file that contains descriptions of the amps, pedals, and cabinets that the AX3G (and AX5G) models. Somebody did a nice job putting it together with photos of the actual modeled equip. I can't vouch for the authenticity of the modeling as I have no experience with the real equipment.

I just did this at lunch at work. This is a Squire Affinity Strat, bridge pup going thru the Krog AX3G into the line in of my computer. I'm playing along with the Opeth Ending Credits tab, which is played by Guitar Pro using only the drum and bass track (all other tracks muted).

It's real short but I think the tone is pretty close to the song.

Made in USA reissue in a sturdy Ali case - a lovely pedal that my daughter's boyfriend bought round with his new Fender Cyclone - a great sound!

I had yours and the original YouTube video playing at the same time for comparison - I'd say the tone is VERY doggone close! In fact, it's close enough that if somebody weren't listening to the original clip at the same time, they'd say that you absolutely nailed that tone. Nice playing too, BTW.
