Did you hear me calling?
For those who like the story:
This song is based on an accident in a local mine. the whole story is very harrowing so I chose just one part of it.
As one shift was ending and another beginning, some men and boys were were being brought up the pit shaft. Part of the machinery at ground level (weighing 17 tons) broke away and fell into the shaft, when it hit the ascending cage some of the support ropes at one side were broken, tipping it over and some of the men were thrown into the shaft.
Of those men left clinging to the cage, one of them called down the shaft to his son who was one of the people thrown out into the darkness. The song is based on this part.
The debris which fell down the shaft completely blocked the way out for the men and boys below and 205 of them died, 3 of them were aged 10 years.

Jomi, that was beautiful. You have quite the talent when it comes to lyrics.Anytime you can make a metalheads's eyes misty listening to a song , you know you did a great job of making me feel I was the one in the song.

Jomi, put out a few more songs like that and you're going to have to get a deal with a record label. Your work sounds professional. Both the performance and subject matter is very moving.

Hi Jomi, another beautiful song, a sensitive rendition of a sad story, your voice just has so much character and makes people sit up and listen. Just an idea on the playing in public thing, you probably get tired of us mentioning this but you could do a showcase in your own home just have a bit of a get together and play a few songs, good way to spend a summers evening.
One of the most inspiring things is the rate that you're producing quality songs, most musicians would envy your workrate. I can also see your confidence growing with each song you post, I on the other hand have a long road to travel and I respect the huge personal effort you have made to post your songs here. Thankyou for allowing others to hear your music.
Regards
Chris

Thank you Carol, I'm very pleased that yourself and other members here liked this song, it was very difficult, not because of the tune or the lyrics but because it's about real people and a real tragedy, it got to me a lot.
Chris, I think the inspiration is over for a while, I spent all of yesterday trying to think of a new song - nothing, I even messed up songs I already know! Thank you for your advice and support, a few days ago I played just for my son and even that made me nervous, you can see then that I have a bit of a mountain.
Thanks 737blues, I have something in mind for a more cheerful song but it isn't coming together very easily; maybe I'm just a naturally miserable old sod!

Jomi, what can I say that hasn't been said? Keep writing, singing and posting. You are a great storyteller, with a natural gift for the details that add richness to stories and make them memorable. Your musical abilities just bring that to life and give you a great platform to express yourself. I'm glad you found this place and I'm glad it's helped inspire you to write more tunes.

I was just surfing through some music on my computer and came across this song. I'm still wiping tears from my eyes and thought new people here would enjoy it. And the old crew would like to hear it again I'm sure. This is an exceptionally beautiful song - thanks Jomi.
