Jesus In Jade - original Bluegrass

Ok,

I wrote this a long time ago. Like 10 years ago. It was resurrected this week. It had a serious rewrite yesterday and tonight. The original is over in the songwriting forum if you're interested. This is a classic D/C/G bluegrass tune. If you're working on your rhythm or strumming join in on this one. It will test your wrist and arm muscles!

A little backdrop......

This is bluegrass but with mountain style banjo. If you have never been to a bluegrass festival you are truly missing some of the finest music every played. The best festivals are those that far out into the country or in the hills and mountains of Appalachia.

When it starts to get late in the evening and the air cools down a magic happens. You'll find yourself in with a crowd of players who have only music on their minds. The crickets are chirping and perhaps a frog or two can be heard. No droning city noises. No traffic. Just music. And it fills the valley echoing off the hills sides.

I love bluegrass repetition. I love songs that last ten minutes and there's a dozen guitars players, three or four banjos being picked. Some mandolins and a few fiddle players kick it in.

And something like this happens.....

Jesus In Jade - HiFi [5.1MB @ 5:18]
( and no, it's not religious .... of course, then again it may depend on your philosophy )

Enjoy

**
LC

Les, Great job!!! I'm a real fan now cause you know I'm a country and bluegrass kind of girl!!!! We have a Bluegrass park about 15 miles from my home and on the 2nd weekend of every month they have jam sessions all day long with special groups at night. I've been going and they allow meto jam with them....it really is a workout! This version is really different than the other you posted it's odd but I think they both work! Man I wish I had your talent, I'd sure like to be able to pick a banjo like that!

Les, that was great. Bluegrass has always had a special place in my heart, songs of the heartland to use a phrase.
