Floyd Rose

I'm trying to decide if I want to have a Floyd Rose System on my next purchase or not. I've never used it before, and I heard re-stringing guitar with Floyd Rose is just pain.

I don't know if I will ever need to have one, which brings me to this question: When and where do they use it? What are examples where this is useful?

The guitar I'm thinking about now is Schecter Damien series, and I don't know if I should get one with or without Floyd Rose.

P.S. I posted here before about getting a new guitar, where I initially wanted an ESP MH-50. I told myself that if I'm getting a new guitar, it might as well be worth it, so I'm going for a step higher.

But it is a very popular aftermarket add-on for Ibanez.

When you say "machines" you mean tuning Keys correct?

And its a BIG NONO to do the "neck bend" like that... seen it done lots of times... do it to my guitar and you mother will cry.

An alternate "De-tune" and its just for the closing of the song, its to detune the "E" string with the tuning key, then hit the 7th fret "e" to finish.

you know, you've inspired me... mentioning the Tuning Keys reminded me of an old Gibson Melody Maker I have laying around missing a bridge, nut, and the Truss rod nut. Someone planned on fixing it up installed a nice set of Locking Tuners, a Dimarzio Hotrails pickup, and a very amature flame paint job.

My Dean Evo definitely suffers from cheap tuners, and I think I'll swap the tuners out next time I change strings. Thanks for the reminder!

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule

Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!

Buy it now for only $10
