Featured Recording of the Week
Since the re-vamped forum has been up and running, some of you may have noticed the new banner we have up the top of each page " Featured Recording of the Week" ...well it really is pretty self explanatory, but the idea is that each week we will be choosing one song submitted to our Recording Booth forum and featuring it for the week.
Last week we chose the hauntingly beautiful "Hug me like you care" by a relatively new member Jomi. If you haven't had the chance to have a listen, do yourself a favour and have a listen here.
For this weeks Featured Recording of the Week, we thought we would choose something totally different and decided on Rockerbob's "Wide Open"... check it out here if you haven't already. Don't be fooled by the title of the thread "Gentle Spring Guitar Melody" it's about as far away from that as you can get!
Enjoy... and thanks to everyone who continues to contribute to the Recording Booth Forum.

This weeks "Featured Recording of the Week" goes to John Bullards and Kirks collaboration of Funky Blue You - it was difficult to pick one out this week. This one was picked as it was really guitar based and a great collab... and also because it cooked!
Have a listen here if you haven't already.

It was short, but oh so sweet... Lcjones' Take me out to the Ball game - it was posted a couple of weeks ago. A very nice bit of finger picking from our very own Les. Do yourself a favor and have a listen if you missed it a couple of weeks back.

Oops, got distracted this week with a bunch of other things and forgot to update the Featured Recording of the Week... this one was posted a couple of weeks back but it definitely shouldn't have been overlooked as one of our Featured Recordings of the Week. It's an original written by another one of our talented members "Smort" - It's called Kisses - if you haven't had a listen already, check it out here - http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/fo...original-smort
Thanks for your contributions here Smort.

Thanks so much for your contributions Jomi. Your songs are just beautiful.

Actually Clancy I really can't thank YOU enough for giving me the platform, without this terrific site I'd still be singing to four walls!!
I also have to thank all the fantastic members here for the encouragement, support, advice, and very positive comments I've had. This is all a very humbling but wonderful experience.

We've chosen a collaboration from Ljones and CanuckTodd for this weeks (fortnights whatever it turns out to be) Featured Recording. It sure is great to see so many of our members getting together for collabs lately.
If you haven't already had a listen, check out "Just a Little More" by Les and Todd here - Just A Little More - A Phillips & Jones original
Thanks for your ongoing contributions Les and Todd.
Cheers

This time around the Recording of the "Week" goes to one of our most helpful and knowledgeable contributors Fretsource - He has put up a few of his recordings in the new Members Showcase section of the site over the last couple of days - so do yourself a favour and have a listen. His fingerstyle guitar playing is just beautiful.
This weeks pick from Fretsource is The Place to Be - be sure to have a listen if you haven't already.
To hear all Fretsources recordings click here - http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/fo...d=13651&sort=d
If you haven't had a chance to check out Fretsources lessons here on the forum, they include lessons on: Standard music notation, Ear Training, Chord Construction, The Circle of Fifths, Fingerstyle accompaniment, The chromatic scale, Changing key (Transposition), A brief history of the guitar and All about INTERVALS. All Fretsource's lessons can be found here - http://www.guitarforbeginners.com/fo...urces-lessons/
Also, if you're not already aware, Fretsource has an ebook available on Guitar Music Theory that can be bought through ebay - here so be sure to check it out too. It receives great feedback from members here on the site.
So thanks Fret for contributing here. It sure is appreciated.
Cheers
Clancy

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
