Have some fun with this

This is one for you guys who say you can't write lyrics. You can, but while you're working on them you could try writing a melody for these lyrics I wrote last month.

If the idea appeals to you let us know your results. Post a recording if you can.

I'm going to do the obvious and use a well worn chord progression for my melody. I'll post my take on it next week.

Have a great new year.

Blues are Over

I woke up this morning, delighted at all I could see
I’m loving my baby and she’s loving me
We got four years up tomorrow and we live by the sea

I look out my window, the horses are wild and free
They graze on the hilltop, they gaze at the foaming sea
They don’t know about tomorrow, don’t care about you or me

The blues are over they faded like my jeans
I can’t help feeling as high as I’ve ever been
You know there’s no tomorrow, today is just a dream

I see you beside me I look at your smiling face
There’s no way to say it, can’t be said in any case
No way to explain it, we live in a state of grace

repeat 3rd

Wow! Keep up the song writing mate! Maybe you could compose some fingerstyle to match it?

Well I did the obvious and used a standard 12-bar blues progression as the basis for the tune to this song.

I'm posting the results in the Recording Booth.

Here are the chords:

Blues are Over

I [C]woke up this morning [F]delighted at all I could [C]see
I’m [F]loving my baby and she’s loving [C]me
We got [G7]four years up tomorrow and F]we live by the [C]sea [G7]

I [C]look out my window [F] the horses are wild and [C]free
[F]They graze on the hilltop, they gaze at the foaming [C]sea
They don’t [G7]know about tomorrow, don’t [F]care about you or [C]me [G7]

The [C]blues are over [F]they faded like my [C]jeans
[F]I can’t help feeling as high as I’ve ever [C]been
[G7]There’s no tomorrow to-[F]day is just a [C]dream [G7]

I [C]see you beside me [F]I look at your smiling [C]face
[F]There’s no way to say it, can’t be said in any [C]case
[G7]No way to explain it, we [F] live in a state of [C]grace [G7]

The [C]blues are over [F]they faded like my [C]jeans
[F]I can’t help feeling as high as I’ve ever [C]been
[G7]There’s no tomorrow to-[F]day is just a [C]dream [C7] [F] [Fm7] [C] [C7]
