Hi all,

I bought this cheap guitar & started learning how to play it only a couple of weeks back.

But I noticed that my fingers hurt quite a fair bit.

Anyway, when I was @ my friend place the other day, I tried his Fender and it did not hurt that much.

So I brought mine over and did a comparison.
This is what I noticed.
1. For his guitar the distance from the string to the neck was almost half mine... about 3-5mm and mine was about 7-8mm apart.
Can I do something about it?
I noticed that the saddle on my guitar was slightly higher than his. Can it be modified? or can it be changed?

2. His string was alot "softer" than mine on the fingers.
He mentioned that there were different types of strings and the "softer" strings compromises on the sound quality.... What was he talking about?
Are there coated strings that are "soft"?
