First one was Les Paul who my father had to drag me to, then sat back and watched as I was just awe struck of hearing that sweet sound live. Late 1950's, I was 8 or 9.

Eric Clapton with Cream at the RI Auditorium. Can't remember the year but it had to be between '67 and '71.

Mine was James Black of Finger Eleven a couple years ago. Not a well known name in the guitar world, but that's who it was for me.

One of my first concerts ... the Georgia Jam ... Atlanta Stadium ... sometime in the '70s. Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker, Lynyrd Skynrd, Grinders Switch.

The first one that stands out in my memory was 10 Years After in Tempe Arizona, 1970 or 71.

It was either Humble Pie (Steve Marriot/Peter Frampton) back in '71 or so, or Ten Years After, also early 70s. Some of that stuff's a blur. I wonder why.

Haven't seen any famous guitarists. Most famous band I saw was Collective Soul on New Years eve 2005/2006.

First was a local punk band premiering Jeff Yonkers from FA-Q. Then I saw Eric Clapton at the Palace of Auburn Hills in 98 and just after that David Gilmore (Pink Floyd) a few months later on the momentary lapse tour. Then also shortly after that James and Kirk (Metallica) on the And Justice Tour in Battle Creek. My ears rang for 3 days after that!!! and I was a stoked fire to learn to play after that.

but I forgot to say to Coldethyl that seeing ELO would have been sweet. I always loved that as a kid. ELO, TOTO, Manhattan Transfer & Do wap ( my parents raised us on it) ELO would have been sweet to see.

First guitarist that I actually paid to see was Buddy Guy thats who put me on the road so to speak. After that having the Allman Bros Band camped out up the road played a big part too. Just something about Duane on a slide that can raise chill bumps if ya know what I mean

The GfB&B Guitar Slide Rule
Download the PDF of the 'Guitar Chord Slide Rule', print it out, fold it together and you'll have at your disposal a very neat tool that will not only show you all the positions for the main flavors of chords, but will also teach you a very important lesson about how the guitar works... It consists of a folded sleeve and six double sided inserts, instructions for cutting it out and folding it together are included with the PDF ... it's very simple to do, and if you botch it, you can simply print it out again!
