Well, copyright is no doubt a sticking point to the powers that be. A buck is righteous in todays world of single song download.
More immediate and worse yet is the intention to shut down Internet
Radio because of royalty payments. The vast majority of Internet Radio is produced by non-profit or extremely low profit entrepreneurs. Such as Pandora Radio, Live365, Folk Alley and others.
The proposed royalty fees to be levied against Internet Radio are upwards of 300 to 1200% over and above the royalty fees that satellite radio has to pay.
Those of you in the United States, please join me and many others @
www.savetheradio.org . Join and contact your Congressman and let them know that if Internet Radio falls by the wayside, multitudes of artists and listeners will be deprived of a fundamental human right. The right to play and enjoy the music of your choice.
The deadline has been extended to July 15th, 2007. After that date, Internet Radio may cease to exist.
