Thanks eddiez... you know, when you put it like that, it doesn't sound so bad to say "trick"... I'm also a martial arts "expert" (if you consider 3 black belts and many other forms of MA under my belt an expert, not sure what exactly constitutes an expert, anyhoo)...

I'm contantly re-teaching even basics to people because... well they learned something that "works", well kinda... its technically right, but well, it doesn't get the job done in a real situation, so I have to show them certian "tricks of the trade" that takes their average kick or punch and turn it into a real weapon of mass destruction (well hopefully :-) ). I show them what it really takes to develop speed, endurance, power and muscle memory... actually a "secret" is if you work on punching or kicking speed... you'll also be improving endurance, muscle memory and especially power...

Power = Mass X Acceleration(squared)

therefore, speed (acceleration) is the key to Power... not Mass as many think. A small thin man can knock out a huge guy because of his speed... but a huge man can knock out a guy because of his mass, however whoever is faster will hit first!

Anyhoo... sorry for my diversion into martial arts on A GUITAR FORUM! Well THEY DO CALL THE GUITAR AN AXE! ;-)

Brian
