As I'm more familiar with the Gary Moore tune "Still got the Blues" than those that Clancy and your friend mentioned, I recognized the similarity to Gary's tune immediately. I even went to the tab of "Still got the Blues" and could see its similar chords. Don't worry though, there's enough difference (I hope!) that Moore's lawyers won't be coming after you.
A great tune Kirk. Thanks man. As a rank beginner blues player (I can strum simple 12-bar blues in any key in either open or barre chords but that's my total limit) the theory of this piece is a little over my head (it doesn't start in its key???
) but I guess being overwhelmed is better than underwhelmed eh?
As my unrealistic goal in life would be to be a fingerpicking blues player (my forum name sums me up totally and honestly) I
will learn to play this piece if only because it was written due to my suggestion.
It's ironic that I order a new guitar today and I get a piece written because of me. A great day!
