The categories seem to be taking shape fairly well. As others have suggested, some smaller genres' may be grouped in with others in different threads and you may find that after a little while some threads are just kind of dead or have very low activity and could be sub-grouped in with others.

some ragtime content, for example would be worthwhile, but that might not generate a huge interest (than again it might) and could be grouped in as a sub-set in jazz or even bluegrass if those were larger categories.

It may be good to get something off the ground and see what happens to it and then tweak it. Even the way this entire site has been developing over time is IMO progressing along great. The look and organization is tops.
