Hey y'all, I'm new here.
I live in Savannah, GA in the US. I don't know a thing about music but I've been playing off and on for 20 years and could thump a bass pretty good once upon a time. I teach karate and I'm a computer geek who also happens to be a big ol' nasty ol' biker and pretty good mechanic/builder most of the time.
I grew up playing at Country and 80's metal, yes, including hairbands, and good ol' Classic Rock, but I really like a little bluegrass and a lot of BLUES more than anything else, especially the "delta" sound. I really can't play any more, years out of practice, hands all beat up from various things, etc. Basically, I suck although I can string a few notes together pleasingly. Most of the time.
I have an old Peavey bass I played a buncha years ago, an Alvarez Yairi, an ol' Ventures Mosrite, a cigarbox guitar I'm building because it looked like a fun thing to do, and a Regal square-neck resophonic that I'm trying to learn to play because my pro-fessional-type pedal steel playin' cousin has been after me to do it for 15 or 20 years. Dang 'im.
That durn Regal is the one that prompted the desire to learn to actually PLAY rather than to just...play at it.
Anyway, hope to learn a lot so I can DO something with the square neck, even trade it for a round neck it comes to it, and have fun. If any of y'all live in Savannah look me up, I need ALLLLLL the help I can get!
