Hi, Clyde,
You're in the right place, for sure! I started taking lessons a few years ago when I was 63. Between my instructor and a lot of good folks on this site, I like to think I've learned a lot. (Wishful thinking?)

The barr chords were hard for me at first, but I think most folks will agree that you just have to keep working at them until the fingers can find the right forms to let the notes ring clear.

Go through the links to find Kirk's lessons and find some that are easy for you. There are some good Christmas tunes in there, too.
